Military..?

Im going to make this as short as possible...

-Im a Junior in high school

-Ill have 15 college credits by the end of my senior year towards an associates degree at a nearby college

-I need 55 more credits to get my degree as an automotive technition

-Im enlisting in the Marines as an LAV crewman

Can I earn those 55 credits WHILE Im in service? Or would I have to wait and use the GI BIll if I decide to get out and get a civillian job?|||Many military personnel round out their education while in the service. Depending on your duty station and hours, maybe you can go to night school, or enroll in online classes. Otherwise, check into the way-too-stupid military educational courses for credits. They send you a book, you "read" it, and then take an easy test. The system is tremendously flawed...ask around on your first post, and you'll find guys with all the answers to the tests they have taken.

At least, that's how it worked while I was in.

Good luck!|||It depends on where you are stationed and how much free time you have to take classes. There are ways to take classes even while deployed, but it depends on how busy you are with work.|||In most cases you can earn some college while you in service, but the number and amount of time you have to take classes would depend upon your assignment!|||The AF has the Community College of the AF which can grant associate's degrees, and awards college credits for your military training as well as civilian class you take and CLEP/DANTES exams. Check with your recruiter to see if the Marine Corps has something similar.|||I am a current marine...you may have the opportunity to complete your degree while you are in the service. A lot of that will be determined whether or not you are dedicated to completing your coursework. I have seen many join with the intention of completing there degrees and freedom from mom and dad is something that you can not handle. One more thing to consider is the type of military unit that you are joining..will they deploy? Will they deploy often, will you have those opportunities to complete the studies. I wish you luck..there's nothing like the Corps! PISC 1991|||It would be hard, since most of the schooling you would need, will be hands on training.

You cannot train to be an auto mechanic over a computer.

Your gonna have to do alot of hands on training.

So why not just enlist in the Marines as a MOS 3521

And let the Marines finish your training?|||u can use the gi bill while in the service.|||You can definitely earn your college degree while enlisted, depending on how motivated you are and your work schedule. My husband (20+ years in AF) earned two associates, a bachelor's and a master's degree.
