How difficult is it to find employment after military service as an officer in a relevant field?

I plan on going to college for an aerospace engineering degree and attending Air Force ROTC to become and officer in the Air Force, and if tests scores provide, become an developmental engineer or something of the sort during my service.

After an honorable discharge, will my experience in the military hold me back when searching for a new job? Say, would 4 years working at Lockheed Martin been better then being an engineer in the military?

Or any stories of former military officers trying to find employment after service.|||In your situation, you will definitely have an easy time getting a job with a defense contractor. The reason is you already have the security clearance.

On the other side, you may not be using your engineering skills very often. That means you have to keep your engineering skills up.|||Some companies like government agencies and defense contractors actually give veterans preference. In short, no being a former service member shouldn't hold you back at all.|||Considering that unemployment for veterans is over 13% and Congress is cutting back on defense systems I doubt you will have a good chance.
