Military!?!?!?!?

my bf is joining. is there always those partys and stuff lk n movies?|||At Basic Training / Boot Camp there is no partying, its more like prison but stricter.

Once he graduates Basic/Boot he'll go to a tech school he'll have a little more freedom but if he's not 21 he could get into alot of trouble if he's caught drinking.

Once he leaves tech school, he'll go to his permanent base/post. He'll have a job/duty that he has to do everyday but when he's not doing that he's free to do whatever he wants(to a certain extent) if that means partying its up to him.|||there are parties thats for him to decide if he wants to go but he is going to worry way more about u being unfaithful than u should him thats just the way it is... write to him often when he goes to basic he will need that|||N O, the US Military is about training, not parties.|||What kind of parties? Do you mean drinking and carousing, GI parties where you clean garbage cans, or the wire brush shower scrubs that the guys who won't take a shower get? Every unit has its own place that they get together, if they do at all. In basic or boot camp - you didn't say what he was joining - there is no time for much of anything besides drill, exercise, learning to shoot, getting tested, shots, and marching.|||Reality is rarely actually like what you see in movies and on TV. The military is all about reality, and little to do with fantasy.

If more Americans realized that, there'd be a lot fewer gullible people out there.|||there could be a graduation party I guess?|||not exactly more like shooting and pushups|||in basic and AIT i very seriously doubt it.... my hubby never talked about any parties|||NO. Partying is not allowed in the barracks, especially if he is a minor. We don't have the greatest military super power in the world because they all party.|||Hi. I'm a former military member(navy). Sometimes there are parties, but they are called commaderies, and usually wild behavior is frowned upon. They are usually planned and thrown on base by the command. All UCMJ regulations apply as in normal working hours(accept out of uniform), alcohol is permitted, but don't let your superiors find out if you are drinking under age(in other words, don't drink under age). Usually they are planned cook outs or dances. You can be yourself, but it's more like an office party atmosphere.

These parties are not as wild as in the movies.
