What is the difference between military police and the regular military?

I just want to know because I don't really don't know what the military police do.|||Hello Jake,

The answer is obvious.

Military Police are soldiers whose job it is is just like a civilian police officer.

Military Police provide law enforcement duties on a military base/post/ship just like a civilian police force protects the civilian community.

Of course, within the Military Police there are trained soldiers who also perform Security Forces duties.

Actually, the title military police is giving way to Security Forces. In the security forces concept bases are guarded and planes and other military weapons are guarded by security forces.

Of course, all bases must also have law enforcement military police work, too.

OK?

Best wishes,

Larry Smith

First Sergeant|||The Military Police perform several duties that regular soldiers don't do.

They perform traditional law enforcement, unlike other soldiers, and they perform nuclear and conventional security that most soldiers don't.|||Military Police are the cops of the military. During peacetime or while assigned to a state-side post, they write traffic tickets and respond to emergency calls on base. During war or during deployments, they maintain the rule of law on bases overseas, escort prisoners, man POW camps and the like. They also because of their training and equipment make an excellent mounted rapid reaction force.
