Military............?

I have been a police officer for 1 year now but i am willing to sign into the army as an officer for military police, Would it be eassier for me to be chosen as an officer?|||To go in to the military as an officer you must have a 4 year degree from a college or university. Police academy and time as a policeman do not count toward anything in this regard. Now, you may be able to enlist and go in as something more than an E-1. But, officer... sorry... get your 4 year degree!|||IYou have to go to Officer school or take an oath.As long as youve been to college your fine.|||I think you have to had completed some college(if you have, then I don't think this applies then,) in order to go in as an officer. If I'm wrong, please correct me.|||You can only be an officer if you have a degree, or at least 60 or 90 credit hours (not sure which). If you meet those requirements, then you go to a recruiter and enlist with an option for OCS (Officer Candidate School). After basic training you'll go into a holding pattern until OCS opens up and you get a slot. If you pass OCS you will earn your commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. If you don't pass you'll go into the Regular Army as a Specialist (E4). Only if you score high enough in OCS will you get a choice on what branch you do, although at the beginning you do fill out a wish list. If you don't already have a degree, after a certain amount of time (usually after you make 1st Lieutenant), you will go through a "degree-completion" phase.

Hope this helps.|||What? First off--MP's suck. That just needs to be said. Second, an officer? Being an officer is a whole other ballgame. It isn't as easy as just signing the papers and saying you want to be an MP. You have to have a four year degree with ROTC or in an Academy. I think you can try and do OCS without ROTC but you'd need to talk to a recruiter for that one. Besides why the heck would you want to be an officer? Enlist and go Infantry!||| Great Question! I am sure your experience would go along way toward getting you in the military, but to be an Officer, you usually need to have a 4 year degree, or sign-up for them to send/pay for your schooling with an equal committment, another 4 years, of actual service.

I'm not sure of your reasons for wanting to go into the military, but have you looked into working for the Federal Government? As either a Correctional Officer or ATF, FBI, CIA agent you'll have a great career, and great pay as well! I know most Federal Law Enforcement jobs offer 20 year retirement and excellent benefits. Hope this helps, GI
