What are the laws for military member to own a gun in Maryland?

I am in the military. I plan on owning a M9 when i get back to maryland. But i am not sure what are law regarding military member owning guns in maryland and how do we go about doing that.|||Ownership in your private, off-duty life is treated just like you were a civilian. Your military weapons are issued to you while on duty, they are kept on the base. You cannot take them home and your enlisted status does not entitle you to any special private ownership rights.

Now that being said, the M9 (I assume you mean the Italian 9mm semi-auto pistol?) is a perfectly legal firearm for a civilian. You can buy handguns in Maryland no problem, just as long as you pass the background check and waiting period. Any licensed gun shop has the paperwork there and can give you the whole explanation.

Know that in Maryland, you must keep the handgun at home, or travel with it in a box. It is illegal to carry concealed or openly, and Maryland does not issue carry permits unless you are cash-handler, guard or private detective. Carrying the handgun while on official duty is one thing, but off-duty and out of uniform, you are a civilian as far as the police are concerned.

Fully automatic weapons can actually be purchased by civilians as long as they pass the criteria for an NFA Class III weapon license from the BATFE. This is a complex matter, so a gun shop employee would be a better source on this. They know what their doing and you have to buy from them anyway.|||This can't be a real question... every American has the right to keep and bear arms - military or civilian.
