What happens when you switch military branches and how many times can you do it?

I plan to serve in the marines, but once i'm done I want to go to ranger school and then green beret training, and possibly SEALS. I wanted to know stuff such as does you rank go with you? Which military uniform do you wear, do commendations go with you. Or will I be throwing away my military past when i switch branches.|||Okay, I'll let you know something. It's not easy to get one of those schools you listed. Ranger school was the easiest and you generally have to go into a particular MOS and then pass the school That means you're looking at a minimum contract at the beginning just to start. Then, if you are good, you might be able to re-enlist, go to NCO school and possible get a SF sergeants spot (all SF comes with minimum Federal Service requirements). It's a career just to get to "Green Berets". Then to switch to the Marines, run a minimum contract with them, then trying out for SEALS when you will be probably in your late thirties or early forties. You might want to scale back a bit.

Now, when you switch branches, you become a member of that branch. You were the uniform of the branch you are currently in. Some awards switch over. Switching branches is basically the only thing on the this list that has a serious probability of happening.|||Here is the only thing you need to know. WAKE THE F*CK UP! You have watched entirely too many movies. Marines are in some cases better trained than Rangers, the only thing they don't have are jump wings. The Green Beret's pretty much don't exist anymore it's called ASOC, I'm not going to get into the difference and all the transitions but basically you're either 10 years old, very very ill informed, or just stupid. However, if you go from marines to army, or marines to navy, or marines to air force, you will keep your rank and only have to do the pre-requisite training for your particular MOS. Any prior service joining the marines, however, loses some or all rank and has to start from square one.|||pick one

and strive for it you will never ever do all of them

doesnt work like that you cant flip and flop branches

you wear the uniforms of the branched your enlisted or commissioned into

what you want to do is impossible

they arent going to put money and time into training you for one branch and then let you flip to another waste time and money again to train you to have you switch again

rank is often lost when switched branches

i have heard of doing one switch but never two

make up your mind or dont join|||If you want to be a Marine join the Marines. If you want to be a Ranger or Special Forces Soldier(Green Beret) join the Army. If you want to be a SEAL join the Navy
