Is there military terminology for using too much force on one target so less is available for others?
For example, you have ten archers each with one arrow taking on ten foot soldiers, but all ten archers shoot just one of the foot soldiers, wasting 9 shots, and ending up being defeated. I know 'overkill' is more force than needed for one target, but I am talking about the wasted force rather than unnecessarily great force. I am looking for a specific military term for that wasted, misspent force.|||budget-buster?|||Outsmarted. The whole idea of outflanking an opponent is to keep the opponent trying to attack one target, generally a small target while moving one's forces to a better position.
