I lived on a military base for two years, and this never came up, to my knowledge. Are women allowed to get pregnant while in the military? Is it encouraged? Discouraged? Is there some kind of penalty?
What about women who get pregnant while on tour somewhere in the world? It seems like there would be a lot of women in Iraq getting pregnant just to go home. Or maybe there's a ban on sex in a war zone.
I'm really curious now, I've never heard anyone discuss this. Any military people out there have answers for me?|||If you get pregnant while in, they give you a choice to stay in or get out. If you stay in you get 6 weeks of maternity leave to recover. After that you have 6 months to get back into shape.
Pregnancy is neither encouraged or discouraged, they can't really stop you from having sex if you are at your duty station.
You can get pregnant if you want to, just make sure the guy isn't married, not in your Chain of Command, or and Officer if you are enlisted. If it was me i would try to make sure I was married first, so you don't look like a barracks slut.
To get pregnant while deployed is HIGHLY discouraged, as you are not supposed to be having sex over there, you can receive UCMJ (Art 15) for getting pregnant while deployed.
Who would want to have sex in Iraq or Afghanistan there is no privacy.|||It's neither encouraged or discouraged. There's no penalty except the female loses a lot of job credibility, gets called a deployment dodger, etc. In the USMC you get 6 weeks maternity leave, have to be back within weight standards and be able to pass a physical fitness test 6 months after giving birth, and you have 1 year non-deployable status for 1 year after the birth. Most females will try to get pregnant BEFORE they deploy, not during, though there are some and they WILL get sent home and get in a whole world of trouble depending on the timing (on rare occasion in the beginning there were some who got sent but were already pregnant, because of that they implemented mandatory pregnancy testing using blood HCG levels).|||Yes women can get pregnant while in the military. It is neither encouraged nor discouraged. There is no penalty for it.
I got pregnant in Korea but luckily it was time for me to PCS home with my husband anyhow. You can deploy and do field time till your 20th week however usually your chain of command will already have you pushing paper somewhere.
Sex is not allowed out in sandbox however soldiers are human and some people can't go that long with out sex and married couples in the Army can now live together out there.
At the time you get pregnant you have the option to get out of the military as well.|||Yes women can get pregnant and it is not looked down upon unless they are in a war zone.
If they are in a war zone they get sent home....they are not suppose to be having sex in a war zone but they do and well some get pregnant on purpose JUST to get sent home.
If they are not in a war zone they just switch to 8 hours of work a day(or 9) and they get to wear a maternity uniform. They get leave for a few weeks after they have the child and then back to work.|||Im in the af and just had a baby 3 weeks ago. You get a choice of getting out of the military and if you choose to get out they let you out 6 weeks before the due date. When you find out you are pregnant you will get on a profile and have weight limits, work hour limits, and walk at pt. Then you get 6 months after your birth to take your pt test.|||Getting preg in Iraq = Desert Queen. And yes, they get sent home.
Pregnancy in military is just fine - just don't whine because no one wants to baby you. And it's 6 weeks maternity leave. I had 2 kids while I've been on Active Duty...|||http://userpages.aug.com/captbarb/pregna鈥?/a>
you should read this page :)脿|||they take you off active duty|||In the rear, or a duty station in a peace zone, The military doesn't really care. You get maternal leave, just as fathers get paternal leave, and you rate more money (but only for your first child), after the maternity leave is over you must find child care so you can report back to duty, and everyone lives happily ever after.
In a war-zone however, just as in a training environment or on ship, Sex between service members is strictly forbidden. At least in the Marine Corps. I've heard rumours about the army and air force, but I've only been a marine.
But anyways, that's not to say it doesn't happen. While I was in Fallujah in 07, we had about 6 females get pregnant. They all got sent home and recieved non-judicial punishments, which means they lost rank and money. And if the corps. finds out who impregnated them, the same happens to the guy, though in all the cases I know about, the girl only revealed the guy's name in one instance. I don't agree with this policy, but I don't think it's there to punish nessacerily, but more to act as a deterrant.
Another thing I've noticed is a few women go out and get pregnant with some random guy before a deployment just so they don't have to go to war. There was even one rumour of a chick who had an abortion after she missed the deployment. I'm not sure if that's true, but I know pregnancy is used to stay home.|||I don't know how it is now, but when I was in she had a choice of stay or get out on a specific chapter.
It used to be very common to go to visiting bases and have someone say if anyone wants a piece of (well you know) the girls in the cars out back are trying to get pregnant. (Ft Irwin, cough, cough)|||They let her have the baby right there in the field while they're shooting at rag heads, a drill instructor comes and gets it, shaves its head and feeds it baby MREs.|||maternaty leave for about 1 or half a year|||she does even less work.|||i'm guessing has a child???
