Would you like it if Military was incorporated, or would you preffer no military?
Would the military, if incorporated in a story, have to be realistic in involvement?|||Personally, I like the way they did it in The Walking Dead. The guy wakes up and everything has already happened. We see a tank in Atlanta with a lot of dead around it and a few zombies, but we don't see what happened. We don't know what the status of the military is, if there are safe zones controlled by the military anywhere, or if the armed forces were wiped out. For that matter, we don't know how the zombies came about. The mysterious blank slate approach is the way I would do it.
The problem with involving the military in a zombie story is that in any circumstance where it was an option, the military would smart bomb and carpet bomb. This could be very cool, but would make for a very short story. The military exists, so the biggest problem I see is how to get around the use of aircraft for zombie fighting. Not exactly fair odds. The zombie outbreak would have to be in Miramar or Ramstein or something.
If I didn't use the blank slate approach, I would write in a massive war so that the military is at best otherwise occupied or at worst destroyed. This could get interesting.
Long story short, for me the cluster of survivors unfamiliar with weapons and lacking satellite, artillery, and air support approach is most entertaining.|||it be a one page book. j# bomb dropeit 11.5 magatons fire ball none nuclear . what zombie.

|||If you want the story to be entertaining to the readers, make sure to have the military involvement be little to moderate in order to prevent a full on slaughter of the antagonist. Possibly say how the military men are low on supplies and as long as it's been around 6 months since the outbreak started, you can exclude tanks/humvees due to the gasoline going foul after a long period of sitting in gasoline tanks/barrells. If you really wanted to include an organized force, I'd recomend rag-tag militia groups thriving on the abbundance of supplies left to sit in warehouses.|||You do have some options here. If the Military shows up in full force, the zombies are done for, so you can't do it that way unless you're using them to finish off the story. An isolated unit, perhaps, or a few stragglers joining with other people to fight the zombies might work.
