No im not planning on beating up a civilian. I heard someone saying if someone in the military hits a civilian they can get attempted murder because we are trained to fight.|||I doubt that seriously.|||Nope. And there is no law requiring you to "register your hands as lethal weapons" if you hold a black belt in Karate either. Martial arts training might even help you in an attempted murder case because you can say that if you had intended to kill him, he would be dead. But training is not going to help you beat a battery charge. You could even get an enhanced sentence if the judge thinks they were in the wrong, had full control of the situation, and willfully beat up a defenseless victim.|||Military personnel are subject to the same laws as civilian. Assault is assault, no matter whether you serve in the military or are a civilian.|||urban myth|||NO! Not for just punching someone.|||if someone who takes karate classes hits someone is he charged with attempted murder? nope...
that's retarded, you can get charged with assault and battery just like everyone else, but you're hands arent registered as lethal weapons...|||That is bull. Now if you kill them you might have a problem.|||No, since even though you are trained to fight, hitting someone isn't grounds for attempted murder, probably only assault, hitting someone with an object that will obviously kill them like a metal bat to the head, might get you in attempted murder. Either way smacking someone in the face with your fist isn't going to get you attempted murder.
