I wanted to know the regulation on military post while in ACUs on knives and sunglasses. I have oakley gascan but i heard polorized lenses were not allowed. Also I heard blade size is regulated by approx the size of your palm. Please answer with fair military background facts.|||Uh...always wore my Gerber on my belt...it had a 3 inch blade in it. Nobody ever gave me crap about it. As long as it's not like a machete or Bowie knife...
Glasses...I haven't heard anything about polarized glasses being banned...only sunglasses if you were in formation...and people with transition eye glasses are authorized to keep wearing them in formation. I dunno...always used the BDU cap/ACU capto keep the sun out of my eyes...until they introduced the black beret...now I just walk into things when it's really bright outside.|||AR 670-1 defines what can and can not be carried on your uniform and what type of sunglasses you are allowed to wear. If your Oakleys have their logo on them in any color other than black or brown then you can't wear them. Polarized lenses is not defined in AR 670-1 but if they are reflective, which mst polarized lenses are, then they can not be worn. Other colors are also not authorized such as but not limited to red, blue, green etc... Alot of people like to argue with me about the whole "I was issued these" excuse to wear their Oakley sunglasses in garrison. They were issued for wear in combat not to wear here in the states. When in combat alot of the rules are different. AS far as blade length in uniform, I haven't been able to find any reference to this. But to be completely honest with you while in garrison you don't need a huge knife on you. I would say no more than 3 inches. If you have it in your pocket you can't really see it anyway and if you have it hanging from your belt it can't be seen below your ACU top.|||Never heard of those regulations, however, the command can make rules ask they see fit.
